Part of Our World?

This is my take on the Little Mermaid. More of a modern take, where she falls in love with humanity but they betray her. Here she is, trying to escape the confines of a holding tank, and I was actually hearkening back to the old legends of mermaids, being beautiful only up until they lured the sailors to their watery grave. I had a bit of help with the inspiration having been pretty dark and depressed lately, so this was a cathartic piece for me. Drawn for 's contest, Reinvented Fairytales.

Time: about 16 hours spread over the span of a week (I have little children and distractions. )
